At Livingstone Law, APC, we are passionate about helping individuals and families resolve their legal issues in a way that protects their interests and preserves their relationships. As your family law attorney, I am committed to providing the level of personal service and attention to detail that is necessary in your case.

After practicing in this field for 27 years, I understand the stress, confusion, and uncertainty associated with family law cases. These issues are central to your personal life, involving matters ranging from finances and marital property and debt to parenting, paternity, and more. My mission is to ensure that your rights are protected and that your case is resolved as effectively and efficiently as possible, so you can put the past behind you and move forward in life.

Family Law Services We Provide

My team and I are here to help you in all family law matters, including:

Divorce

I handle all types of divorce cases, including:

I also provide divorce mediation representation, in which you can settle your divorce issues through negotiation outside of the courtroom. This process saves you the stress, time, and expense of litigation.

Depending on your circumstances, divorce involves the resolution of child custody, child support, alimony, and the division of marital property and debt. These issues must be settled either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation before your case can be finalized by court orders.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence can involve various acts of aggression against current or former spouses, co-parents, dating or intimate partners, cohabitants, and other household members. These acts can range from inflicting bodily injury to domestic battery, stalking, harassment, and more. They commonly result in restraining orders, also known as protective orders, in which the alleged offender is subject to restrictions and orders by a judge.

I represent parties on both sides of this issue:

Marital Agreements

Marital agreements are contractual agreements in which you and your future or current spouse predetermine how financial, income, and asset matters will be handled, should your marriage end.

These include:

  • Prenuptial agreements: These are agreements negotiated and made prior to the marriage that become effective after the wedding.

  • Postnuptial agreements: These are agreements negotiated and made after the wedding has occurred and become effective once signed.

Modification Orders

The courts recognize that current family court orders, such as those involving custody, relocation, child support, and alimony may need to be modified when material and substantial changes occur in your life or your child’s life. To modify any current court order on these issues, you will have to petition the court. I can prepare your case and represent you in court in seeking or contesting modifications.

Mediation

Mediation is an out-of-court process in which any family law conflict can be negotiated with the help of a neutral third party. In this alternate dispute resolution process, the mediator’s role is to facilitate constructive communication, cooperation, and compromise that is based on common ground. I can provide mediation representation in all family law disputes.

Parental Rights

Parental rights are a sensitive issue in divorce, post-divorce, and between disputing unmarried parents, such as in paternity cases. I am here to give you the representation you need to protect your parental rights in any family law case to ensure that your children have the parental support and nurture they need.

Paternity

As an unmarried parent, you may wish to seek child support or child custody. To accomplish this, you will first have to establish paternity. I represent both unmarried mothers and unmarried fathers. Once paternity has been established, I can help you petition for custody or child support.

If you are facing any of the above issues or any other family-related matter, you need answers. I am here to address your questions and concerns, to provide you with the support you need, and to provide representation both through alternative dispute resolution methods as well as through court trials, where necessary.

  • The duration of a divorce case can vary depending on various factors, such as the complexity of the issues involved, the level of conflict between the parties, and the court's schedule. In general, an uncontested divorce can take a few months, while a contested divorce can take several months to a year or more.

  • Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution process in which a neutral third party helps the parties involved in a legal dispute reach a mutually acceptable agreement. In family law cases, mediation can be used to resolve issues such as child custody, visitation, and property division.
